Coaching & Mentorship

Coaching and mentoring are two of the best ways to develop talent across the organization.  When leaders coach or mentor others, they create opportunities to enhance the knowledge and skills of the people they lead.  Coaching and mentoring lets people know they are valued which keeps them engaged.  Done well, coaching and mentoring helps build a strong pipeline of future leaders.

Coaching: Arguably THE Most Important Leadership Skill

On-Demand

How you lead has a direct, and often immediate impact on the team’s performance, but research shows that leaders continue to fall short of desired expectations, leaving their teams wanting and needing more from them.  Why?  While it’s easy to say something like “engagement” or “motivation,” the reality is more nuanced, and paradoxically, more simple.

When we show employees that we want to hear from them, and we want to know them on a deeper level, we are leveraging one of the most primitive human needs: belonging.  The invitation shows employees that what they have to say is important, that their voice is valued, and that they belong on the team of which they are a part.

So what does this have to do with coaching?  Well, the basic principles of coaching revolve around questions, and questions are a key part of the invitation.  Asking employees what they think, why they think it, what else they might think, and so on, is utilizing the invitation to bring them in and build them up.  And this is the essence of coaching.

In this session, you will learn:

  • What the invitation does to our physiology

  • How to embed an invitational / coaching approach into your leadership

  • Why coaching is arguably the most effective leadership style

  • How to build more invitations into your leadership practice
